Classical senior scored multiple touchdowns in nine of 11 games for Division 3 state runner-up.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jordan Duke of
Classical (Providence) is the 2024 MaxPreps Rhode Island High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior running back helped the Purple to a 9-2 record and Division 3 state runner-up finish.
Duke was one of the most versatile playmakers in the state, finishing with 89 carries for 843 yards and 19
touchdowns along with 35 receptions for 891 yards and 11 more scores. He
averaged 157.6 total yards per game and 13.9 yards per touch, reaching the end zone once every four times Classical put the ball in his hands.

In a 28-13 loss to Ponaganset (North Scituate) in the state title game, Duke rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns – one of five 100-yard rushing performances on the season.
In the semifinals, Duke had six catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-22 win over Rogers (Newport). He added nine carries for 113 yards and three more scores.
Duke's season-high in receiving came in a 42-7 win over North Providence during the regular season, hauling in four receptions for 212 yards and three touchdowns.
On the ground, Duke's best effort came in a 45-24 win over Ponaganset when he rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. He added four receptions for 96 yards and another score.
Duke also made an impact on defense with 17 tackles and two interceptions. He finished the season scoring multiple touchdowns in nine of 11 games.
His older brother, David Duke Jr., is currently on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs. After a standout career at Providence he has spent time in the NBA playing with the Spurs and Brooklyn Nets.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
