McKinley played in-conference for the first time on Thursday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Struthers Wildcats, sneaking past 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brixton Gilmour spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

McKinley moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Struthers, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

McKinley has already played their next contest, a 13-1 defeat against Ravenna on the 18th. As for Struthers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 14-3 win against Harding on the 18th.
