First Baptist Academy entered their tilt with Bishop Verot on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They walked away with a 52-43 victory over the Bishop Verot Vikings. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 49-41 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Bishop Verot still got an impressive performance from Jerry Ashley, who went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points along with eight boards and eight blocks. That's the most blocks Ashley has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Williams, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

First Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Bishop Verot, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the First Baptist Academy Lions challenge the Barron Collier Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Verot, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Golden Gate at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Verot is facing Golden Gate at the right time seeing as Golden Gate is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
