Baseball Game Preview: Freedom Irish vs. Wrightstown Tigers

For the second straight game, Freedom will face off against Wrightstown. The Irish will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Freedom is looking for their season's first victory.

On Tuesday, Freedom came up short against Wrightstown and fell 8-5.

For Wrightstown's part, Rogan Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Thompson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Theo Van Rossum, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Besel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Wrightstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Wrightstown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
