Basketball Recap: Franklin County Bulldogs vs. South Pike Eagles

The Franklin County Bulldogs lost against the South Pike Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Franklin County ended up on the wrong side of a tough 32-12 walloping at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Franklin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Eagles are ranked 113th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Pike to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alaysha Williams, who scored four points along with six rebounds and six steals. Jamaya Holloway was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Franklin County dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.9 points per game. As for South Pike, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Franklin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Pike will head out on the road to take on the Blue Waves at 5:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Port Gibson sitting on seven straight victories and the Eagles on three.
