Recap: Winters Mill Falcons vs. South River Seahawks
The Winters Mill Falcons pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 75-55 loss at the hands of South River. While losing is never fun, Winters Mill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while South River is ranked 44th).
Winters Mill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Wivell, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nat Curley, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Winters Mill's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for South River, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Winters Mill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-52 victory vs. Westminster on the 9th. South River has also already played their next game, a 68-60 win against Chesapeake on the 9th.
