Softball Recap: Locke Comes Up Short

Locke extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They lost 20-5 to the King/Drew Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 16-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for King/Drew, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-14. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs.

For King/Drew's part, Jordan Garcia looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Garcia has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted four RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Briana Smillin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: King/Drew beat Locke by a score of 13-0 later that day.
