Baseball Recap: Fairfield Union Drops Season-High Score on Washington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield Union). They put the hurt on the Washington Blue Lions with a sharp 21-12 win on Friday. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.

Chase Harmon was incredible, going 4-for-6 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelo Galella, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Fairfield Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .525. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win (which was Fairfield Union's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Washington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield Union will host Bloom-Carroll at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against McClain at 5:00 p.m.
