Baseball Recap: Calhoun Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Calhoun won against United Nations International on Monday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Unis. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Unis: they've now won eight in a row.

Josh Mandel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quentin Ruffin, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jordan Osorio, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.

Calhoun's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for United Nations International, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Calhoun will welcome Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for United Nations International, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Masters at 4:15 p.m. on May 12.
