Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Methuen's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Methuen won the last time they faced Lawrence, and Shawn LaDuke did his part to make sure it happened again. The Rangers blew past the Lancers 3-0 on Wednesday with plenty of help from LaDuke, who had seven digs and two blocks. He is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last 26 games he's played dating back to last season.

While Methuen won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-12, 25-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Methuen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Sparks, who had 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Andrew Cox, who had 12 kills and four digs.

Methuen is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Lawrence, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Methuen will take on St. John's Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lawrence, they will challenge Lowell Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
