Baseball Game Preview: Herndon Hornets vs. George C. Marshall Statesmen

The Herndon Hornets will face off against the George C. Marshall Statesmen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herndon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so George C. Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Herndon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They beat Wakefield by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when George C. Marshall and Yorktown meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Statesmen's pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 3-0 shutout.

George C. Marshall's win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-15. As for Herndon, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6-1.

Herndon skirted past George C. Marshall 3-1 when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Statesmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
