Preview: Graham Local Falcons vs. Northwestern Warriors
Graham Local and Northwestern are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Graham Local Falcons will be home for the holidays to greet the Northwestern Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northwestern took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Graham Local, who comes in off a win.
Even though Graham Local has not done well against Kenton Ridge recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Graham Local simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kenton Ridge 53-21 at home. With Graham Local ahead 31-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Graham Local's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoey Conn led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hailey Nash, who scored five points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Northwestern, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 68-28 defeat at the hands of Urbana on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northwestern has scored all season.
The win makes it two in a row for Graham Local and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Northwestern, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Graham Local came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwestern in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, sneaking past 62-60. Does Graham Local have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwestern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
