Elgin/Pope John won the last time they faced Niobrara/Verdigre and things went their way on Monday too. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cougars.

The final score came out to 25-7, 25-16, 25-12.

Braelyn Martinsen paced Elgin/Pope John's offense, picking up 11 kills. Martinsen got some help from Camry Kittelson and her 26 assists. Finally, Kayton Zwingman kept Elgin/Pope John's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Despite the loss, Niobrara/Verdigre had strong showings from Lynae Nielsen, who had nine digs, and Taylen Stark, who had six kills and one assist. Stark is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Kaydence Jones also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Elgin/Pope John's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Elgin/Pope John has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against St. Mary's on the 7th. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Winside on the 7th.
