Recap: Largo Lions vs. iSchool of Lewisville Cougar
The Largo Lions had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against ISchool of Lewisville by a score of 69-61. Given Largo's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in Maryland, while iSchool of Lewisville is ranked 299th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cameron Ward continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was LeTre? Yawn, who scored 14 points.
ISchool of Lewisville's loss came despite strong showings from Jaylen Lawal and David Iweze. Lawal scored 23 points along with six assists, while Iweze dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Iweze has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Lintz, who scored ten points.
Largo's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for iSchool of Lewisville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Largo will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fairmont Heights at 7:00 p.m. ISchool of Lewisville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rock Creek Christian Academy White at 10:00 a.m. on January 15th. Rock Creek Christian Academy White knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 contests -- so hopefully iSchool of Lewisville likes a good challenge.
