Baseball Recap: Concord Takes a Loss

If Concord was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Rural Special last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Concord Pirates came up short against the Viola Longhorns on Monday, falling 10-4. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Longhorns from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Braxton Whitener made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Whitener is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Jobe Garrett was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Concord has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Viola's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Concord will head out on the road to face off against Rose Bud at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Viola, they will welcome Norfork at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
