Baseball Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. Irvine Vaqueros

The Crean Lutheran Saints will be taking part in a tournament against the Irvine Vaqueros at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Crean Lutheran 3.1, Irvine 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Crean Lutheran's tournament run continued when they took on Laguna Beach on Monday. Crean Lutheran took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laguna Beach. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to Pacifica.

Roshan Patel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Evan Tamayo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Featherston, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Crean Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Crean Lutheran beat Irvine 6-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2016. Will Crean Lutheran repeat their success, or does Irvine has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
