4A Region I District 1 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Andress moved up to 629 from 662 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region I District 1. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Chapin 51-11.
The Huskies extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Andress, 51-11. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Christopher Llamas put up the best numbers through the air as Bowie defeated El Paso. He finished with one completions for 35 yards and one touchdown. Llamas' favorite target this week was Oscar Carrasco, who caught one pass for 35 yards.
Myles Douglas was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 161 yards on 19 carries as Austin lost to Rene Hernandez's team. Teammate Andy Banuelos added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.
BARRON was the best wideout in 4A Region I District 1 this week as the Eagles lost to the Huskies. BARRON racked up two receptions for 70 yards. EDDIE SINEGAL helped Andress' passing attack out by catching three balls for 31 yards.
Chapin's Seth Gonzalez and Jaylen Addison have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gonzalez has thrown for 1478 yards this season, while Addison, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 45 catches for 638 yards. The Panthers' Douglas leads the league in rushing yards with 919.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Huskies take on the Tigers. Chapin's offense has recorded 253 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while El Paso has permitted only 119 on the year.
Austin's Douglas needs only 81 yards against Andress next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Robert Morales' team takes on the Huskies. As it stands, the Tigers are in fourth, while Chapin is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when El Paso takes on the Huskies. The Tigers have allowed 119 points this season, while Chapin has given up 127. El Paso allowed 21 points last week as it fell to the Bears.
The Huskies took down the Eagles 51-11 last week, the largest margin of any game.
