Recap: Nardin Academy Gators vs. Nichols Vikings
If the Nardin Academy Gators were feeling good off their 56-15 takedown of the Eden Raiders back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Nardin Academy fell 59-47 to Nichols on Thursday. Nardin Academy has struggled against Nichols recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Nardin Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lily Saleh. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saleh has scored all season. Olivia Braun was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Nichols' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lillian Colpoys, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Walcott, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.
Nardin Academy bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nichols, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nardin Academy will take on Niagara Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nichols, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cardinal O'Hara at 6:00 p.m. Cardinal O'Hara has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 458 points over their last seven matches.
