Preview: Dover Crimson Tornadoes vs. New Philadelphia Quakers
The Dover Crimson Tornadoes will be playing at home against the New Philadelphia Quakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully New Philadelphia likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, everything went Dover's way against Linsly as Dover made off with a 42-21 victory. The result was nothing new for Dover, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Dover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from J.J. Barton, who picked up 158 receiving yards, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Judkins, who threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, New Philadelphia's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and West Holmes were almost perfectly matched up, but New Philadelphia suffered an agonizing 9-8 defeat.
The losing side was boosted by Keaton Fausel, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Dover's win bumped their season record to 5-4 while New Philadelphia's loss dropped theirs to 6-3.
Dover and New Philadelphia were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but Dover suffered an agonizing 21-20 loss. Will Dover have more luck at home instead of on the road?
