Baseball Recap: Ware Shoals Comes Up Short

Ware Shoals was the 11-8 winner over Emerald when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Hornets came up short against the Vikings on Wednesday, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Hornets, who until this contest were averaging 4.04 runs allowed.

Ware Shoals saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Johnson's first of the season. Brayden Madden was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Ware Shoals has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for Emerald, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-14.

Coincidentally, Ware Shoals and Emerald will both be playing Ninety Six the next time they take the field. The Hornets will head out to face the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Vikings will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
