Basketball Game Preview: Serra Catholic Eagles vs. Neighborhood Academy

The Serra Catholic Eagles will challenge Neighborhood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Neighborhood Academy will be up against a hot Serra Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Serra Catholic breezed by St. Joseph to the tune of 75-30 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Spartans are ranked 581st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Owen Dumbroski was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Graham, who posted nine points and five steals.

Serra Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Neighborhood Academy entered their tilt with Geibel Catholic on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They blew past the Gators, posting an 80-37 win.

Neighborhood Academy pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Serra Catholic, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Serra Catholic was taken down by Neighborhood Academy 73-44 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Serra Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
