Recap: Jefferson Area Falcons vs. Kirtland Hornets
On Monday, Jefferson Area came up short against Kirtland and fell 51-43. Jefferson Area has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jefferson Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Contenza, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Contenza has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danielle Furman, who scored eight points.
Jefferson Area dropped their record down to 9-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Kirtland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Area will face off against Harvey at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Jefferson Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday. As for Kirtland, they will head out on the road to face off against Chagrin Falls at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Chagrin Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday.
