Football Game Preview: Lakeland Chiefs vs. Western Wayne Wildcats

The Lakeland Chiefs will take on the Western Wayne Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland will be strutting in after a win while Western Wayne will be coming in after a loss.

Western Wayne will be up against a hot Lakeland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Chiefs were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over Honesdale on Saturday. Considering the Chiefs have won four matchups by more than 24 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

David Naniewicz was his usual excellent self, rushing for 120 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 93 yards and one touchdown. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 61 yards. Gavin Roberts was Naniewicz's top target, picking up 17 receiving yards.

Western Wayne had taken West Scranton down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Wildcats lost 28-7 to the Invaders. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Western Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Lakeland took a serious blow against Western Wayne when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 54-24. Thankfully for the Chiefs, Josh Vinton (who rushed for 324 yards and four scores on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
