Basketball Game Preview: Air Academy Kadets vs. Palmer Ridge Bears

Air Academy has won 14 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Palmer Ridge has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Air Academy Kadets will host the Palmer Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Air Academy made easy work of ThunderRidge and carried off a 60-35 win. Given the Kadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Grizzlies are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tatyonna Brown was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 en route to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The match was her 12th in a row with at least ten points. Kinley Asp was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points along with six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, everything went Palmer Ridge's way against Ponderosa on Monday as Palmer Ridge made off with a 68-44 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.

Air Academy better focus on containing Addison Steenland and Annaliese Bossinger as the pair were huge in Palmer Ridge's win. Steenland posted 17 points, while Bossinger put up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinna Arellano, who earned eight points.

Air Academy's win bumped their record up to 15-0. As for Palmer Ridge, they are also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Air Academy strolled past Palmer Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 47-29. Does Air Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palmer Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
