Basketball Recap: Appomattox County Takes a Loss

Appomattox County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Chatham on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Chatham Cavaliers 55-49. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 48-40.

It was another big night for Jakiyah Giggetts, who went 10 for 19 to rack up 23 points and eight rebounds for Chatham. The contest was Giggetts' seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was JaMya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Appomattox County's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Chatham, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing William Campbell the next time they take the court. Chatham will host William Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Appomattox County will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
