Caldwell is 1-6 against Bloomfield since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chiefs will be playing at home against the Bengals at 4:00 p.m.
Caldwell had taken Verona down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Chiefs fell 11-6 to the Hillbillies.
Dante Placenti was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Nick Kyriacou was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bloomfield). They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over Glen Ridge on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bengals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Noah Attas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Attas was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Cole, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miles Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bloomfield's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Everything went Caldwell's way against Bloomfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Caldwell made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Chiefs repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
