Softball Game Preview: Wellsville Lions vs. Keshequa Indians

The Wellsville Lions will challenge the Keshequa Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellsville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Wellsville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Hornell 12-0. Considering the Lions have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kennedy Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Wellsville got a massive performance out of Makenna Dunbar, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Dunbar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Stuck, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wellsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hornell only posted a batting average of .050.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Keshequa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Avon 4-3. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Wellsville's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Keshequa, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
