Soccer Game Preview: Lapeer vs. Davison

The Lapeer Lightning will venture away from home to square off against the Davison Cardinals at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Wednesday, Lapeer didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Blanc and fell 2-1. Lapeer haven't had much luck with Grand Blanc recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Davison unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Midland by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Davison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Midland are ranked first).

Davison's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Lapeer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-2.

Lapeer beat Davison by a goal when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
