Baseball Game Preview: Alchesay Falcons vs. Chinle Wildcats

The Alchesay Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Chinle Wildcats at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Alchesay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Alchesay's tournament run continued when they took on Ash Fork/Seligman on Friday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 19-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Brett Cosay was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Zeke Ethelbah also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Chinle unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Combs by a score of 6-5.

Chinle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hage Tsosie, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The Wildcats are 8-1 when Tsosie posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another was Covington Jones, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Chinle's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Alchesay, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alchesay has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .534. However, it's not like Chinle struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Alchesay came out on top in a nail-biter against Chinle in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
