Softball Recap: Eagan Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Eagan and Eastview, and Eagan kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-2 win over the Lightning on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lightning: they've now won three in a row.

Jocelyn McClary made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

McClary wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mercy Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Thompson's first of the season.

Eagan pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eastview, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

As of now, neither Eagan nor the Lightning have any future games scheduled.
