Softball Recap: San Clemente Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and San Clemente had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Oxnard Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Tritons as they're now sitting on four straight.

Not much got past Luca Cifuentes, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Oxnard off the board. Cifuentes has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 24 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Stokes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

San Clemente pushed their record up to 22-7-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Oxnard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10-1 record this season.

San Clemente will take on Marina at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tritons 2.7, the Vikings 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Oxnard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
