Softball Recap: Napa's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Napa had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-13 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Justin-Siena Braves. The Grizzlies not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 10-2).

Brooklyn Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 13 hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mattea Buhman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lauren Nicklas also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Napa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Justin-Siena, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On Justin-Siena's side, Caiden Grimmer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Tinsley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Napa and Justin-Siena could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Grizzlies will take on American Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (867 vs. 362). Meanwhile, Justin-Siena (ranked 888th) will meet Casa Grande (ranked 98th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
