Preview: Flanagan/Woodland Falcons vs. El Paso-Gridley Titans
The Flanagan/Woodland Falcons will be playing at home against the El Paso-Gridley Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Flanagan/Woodland: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while El Paso-Gridley has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Flanagan/Woodland had to settle for a 47-44 loss against Fisher.
Despite their loss, Flanagan/Woodland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kora Edens, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Aubry Edens was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley beat Pontiac 53-41 on Saturday. Given El Paso-Gridley's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Pontiac is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Flanagan/Woodland to 3-7 and Fisher to 6-5.
Things could have been worse for Flanagan/Woodland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-35 loss to El Paso-Gridley when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Flanagan/Woodland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
