Baseball Game Preview: St. Albans Bulldogs vs. Potomac School Panthers

The St. Albans Bulldogs will challenge the Potomac School Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

After dropping their season opener at home, Potomac School is headed out to face a Bulldogs squad ready to give their home crowd a win. St. Albans fell 5-2 to Jackson-Reed on Tuesday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Tuesday.

St. Albans got a good showing from Preston Benner, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Benner has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, St. Albans saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Minjack, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Minjack has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Potomac School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Maret. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one run.

Owen Taylormoore and Christian Lam did some serious damage despite the final result: Taylormoore scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Lam scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jason Seeber was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

St. Albans came out on top in a nail-biter against Potomac School in their previous matchup back in April of 2017, sneaking past 2-0. Will St. Albans repeat their success, or does Potomac School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
