Baseball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Emery Spartans

The Spanish Fork Dons will face off against the Emery Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Spanish Fork will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Spanish Fork not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 9-1). Everything went their way against Cedar Valley as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Aviators recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Spanish Fork got a great performance from Matai Johnson as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Johnson has become a key player for the Dons: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Nixon Warren was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhythm Fagan, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Richfield hit Emery with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Beau Stilson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Emery has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Spanish Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
