Coalinga had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Mendota Aztecs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 back in April.
Noah Tasi was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Tasi was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Luis Gutierrez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Luke Wojewoda was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game. Raymond 'Dozer' Flores Jr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coalinga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Coalinga pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Mendota, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-11.
Coalinga wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Tranquillity on the 9th. As for Mendota, they have also already played their next game, a 19-3 victory against Avenal on the 9th.
