Baseball Game Preview: South Johnston Trojans vs. Hunt Warriors

South Johnston has won three straight games at home, while Hunt has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. South Johnston will host Hunt at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Johnston 3, Hunt 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South Johnston's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Southern Wayne. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hunt earned a 5-0 victory over East Wake on Friday. The win continues a trend for Hunt in their matchups with East Wake: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Will Doll, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattox McKeel, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

South Johnston is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Hunt's win bumped their record up to 7-3.
