Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Rock Eagles vs. Chaminade Eagles

The Eagle Rock Eagles will square off against the Chaminade Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, Eagle Rock was able to grind out a solid win over Sylmar, taking the game 74-61.

Meanwhile, Chaminade earned a 78-66 victory over Agoura on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Chargers are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaminade had a senior duo take command as Jonas Thurman went 13 for 22 on his way to 35 points and six rebounds and Koby Nichols posted 17 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thurman has scored at least a third of Chaminade's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Cordero, who had seven points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Chaminade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

The win got Eagle Rock back to even at 4-4. As for Chaminade, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
