Baseball Game Preview: Mission Vista vs. Oceanside Pirates

For the second straight game, Mission Vista will face off against Oceanside. Mission Vista will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Oceanside at 10:30 a.m.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Mission Vista turned things around against Oceanside on Thursday. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-3. The game was the first time Mission Vista has beaten Oceanside on their field since May 3, 2022.

Santino Arvizu tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Mission Vista saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Newten Burnside, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Another was Raymond Ochylski, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mission Vista's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Oceanside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
