Volleyball Recap: Atascadero Starts off Right with Win over Santa Maria

Atascadero took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Santa Maria Saints with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Greyhounds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Saints, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Atascadero was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-15, 25-11.

Ezri Karp paced Atascadero's offense, picking up nine kills. Karp got some help from Kiera Armstrong and her 17 assists. Karp was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Santa Maria dropped their record down to 2-2 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Atascadero didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Laguna Blanca on the 23rd. As for Santa Maria, they will head out to take on Coast Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
