Volleyball Recap: Atascadero Starts Season with Win at Home

Atascadero gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Santa Maria Saints 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Greyhounds also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Atascadero was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-15, 25-11.

Ezri Karp paced Atascadero's offense, picking up nine kills. Karp got some help from Kiera Armstrong and her 17 assists. Karp was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Santa Maria's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Atascadero didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Cate on the 23rd. As for Santa Maria, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Coast Union on the 26th.
