Basketball Recap: Middle Township Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Middle Township had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against the Holy Spirit Spartans by a score of 42-32. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Spartans are ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middle Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reagen Powell, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Toland, who posted eight points.

Middle Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Middle Township's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Holy Spirit, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

Middle Township will look to defend their home court on Monday against Eastern at 4:00 p.m. As for Holy Spirit, they will challenge St. Joseph on Friday. Holy Spirit is facing St. Joseph at the right time seeing as St. Joseph is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
