Basketball Recap: Soldotna Comes Up Short

Soldotna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 69-58 to the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles. The Stars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.

Ian McGarry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cook Inlet Academy, putting up 38 points. That's the most points McGarry has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alek McGarry, who posted 15 points.

Soldotna's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Cook Inlet Academy, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Soldotna and Kenai Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Cook Inlet Academy, they and Eagle River will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
