Baseball Recap: Brandeis Beats Churchill for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Brandeis entered their tilt with Churchill on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-8 last Tuesday.

Tj Byrd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grayson Hallmark was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Hallmark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Brandeis pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Churchill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Brandeis will square off against rival Clark at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Churchill is set to face off against their familiar foe SA Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
