Baseball Recap: Stonington Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Stonington hadn't done well against Bacon Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bears put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bacon Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Cam Ogden, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up two walks). Ogden has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jace Wolfradt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Grayson Dull was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Stonington, bringing their record up to 15-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bacon Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stonington will challenge Old Lyme at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bacon Academy, they will take on Lyman Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
