Basketball Recap: Catasauqua Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Aalani Nix and Hamaad Jenkins

After flying high against Saucon Valley on Thursday, Catasauqua came back down to earth. The Rough Riders took a 65-47 bruising from the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers on Saturday. The Rough Riders have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Catasauqua had strong showings from Hamaad Jenkins, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Aalani Nix, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayvien Vaz, who posted four points and three steals.

Catasauqua's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Northwestern Lehigh, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Catasauqua will be home for the holidays to greet Palmerton at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwestern Lehigh, they will venture away from home to square off against Moravian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
