Football Recap: Commerce Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Commerce had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it five. They were outmatched by the Rabun County Wildcats and fell 55-28. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Wildcats are ranked 101st).

Commerce lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tate Kirk, who threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns. Essian Locklear was another key player, picking up 133 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

As for Rabun County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average this season.

It was another big night for Reid Giles, who rushed for 243 yards and four scores while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. Another rusher making a difference was Lake Evans, who rushed for 134 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

Coincidentally, Commerce and Rabun County will both be playing Oglethorpe County the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
