Basketball Game Preview: Coal Ridge Titans vs. Delta Panthers

Coal Ridge and Delta are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Coal Ridge Titans will square off against the Delta Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Coal Ridge came out on top against Moffat County by a score of 63-52 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Diego Gamez had an outrageously good game as he en route to 16 points and five steals. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. Alex Cornejo was another key player, to rack up 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Delta sidestepped Basalt for a 65-62 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Coal Ridge's record is now 16-6. As for Delta, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Everything came up roses for Coal Ridge against Delta when the teams last played on February 7th, as the team secured a 65-25 win. In that game, Coal Ridge amassed a halftime lead of 38-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
