Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Mountainair Mustangs
The Animas Panthers were the 46-36 winner over the Mountainair Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Animas suffered a tough 64-39 loss at the hands of Mountainair on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Animas still got an impressive performance from Diego Renteria, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Renteria has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lemuel Mcdonald, who scored six points.
Animas' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mountainair, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.
Animas will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lordsburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024. Mountainair and To'hajiilee will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
