Naperville Central had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt DeKalb on Wednesday. The Redhawks blew past the Barbs 9-3. The win continues a trend for the Redhawks in their matchups with the Barbs: they've now won nine in a row.

Avery Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Shea Meech and Riley Silvers did most of the damage at the plate: Meech went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs, while Silvers went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Meech continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Lenz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Naperville Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive games.

Naperville Central's record is now 11-9. As for DeKalb, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Naperville Central will square off against Neuqua Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for DeKalb, they will take on Sycamore at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
